About Mitre Saws

New Lanka Tools stocks 6 mitre saws. A mitre saw is the tool for accurate, repeatable angled cross-cuts — the machine that turns fitting skirting, architrave and framing from a fiddly job into a fast one. Makita is the most represented brand with 2 machines, alongside Metabo, GrLINK and GAOCHENG. Blade sizes in the range include 10 inch and 12 inch machines, and sliding models extend the cutting width well beyond what a fixed head can reach. Carpenters and joiners, ceiling and partition installers, door and window fitters, furniture makers, and aluminium and PVC fabricators all use mitre saws. Anyone cutting the same angle repeatedly across dozens of lengths will save more time with this than with any other saw. Applications include cutting skirting, architrave and cornice to angle, cross-cutting framing timber and studwork to length, mitring picture frames and trims, cutting decking and cladding squarely, and with the appropriate blade, cutting aluminium and PVC sections. Fixed or sliding is the decision that matters. A fixed-head mitre saw is lighter, cheaper and perfectly adequate for skirting and framing. A sliding machine cuts much wider boards, which matters for shelving, worktops and wide cladding — but it costs more and takes up considerably more bench depth behind the saw. Blade quality determines finish. A blade with more teeth and a negative rake gives clean edges on trim and laminate; a coarse blade rips through framing faster but tears the face. Support long workpieces on both sides of the saw — an unsupported length lifts as the cut completes and ruins the angle. For ripping along the length of a board, a table saw or circular saw is the correct tool, and both are stocked nearby. Genuine stock with warranty support and a repair centre for selected brands.
