About Wall Chasers

New Lanka Tools stocks 2 wall chasers and groove cutters, from Dong Cheng and Makita. A wall chaser cuts two parallel slots in masonry at a set depth and spacing so the material between them can be knocked out, leaving a clean channel for cables or pipework. Electricians running conduit and cable in masonry, plumbers chasing for pipework, air conditioning installers routing refrigerant lines and drains, and renovation contractors rewiring existing buildings all use these machines. Anyone who has cut a chase with an angle grinder and a bolster knows why the dedicated tool exists — the finished channel is straight, consistent in depth, and the surrounding plaster survives. Applications include chasing walls for electrical conduit and back boxes, cutting channels for water and drainage pipe, routing air conditioning pipework through masonry, cutting expansion or control grooves, and V-grooving cladding sheet for folding, which is what the aluminium groove cutter in this range is built for. Depth and width are adjustable on a proper chaser, and setting them correctly matters. Cut only as deep as the conduit or pipe requires — over-deep chases weaken masonry, and in structural walls there are limits on how much can safely be removed. Horizontal chases are generally more damaging than vertical ones. Dust is the major practical issue. Chasing masonry produces very large quantities of fine silica dust in an enclosed space, which is a serious health matter rather than an inconvenience. Use a machine with dust extraction connected to a suitable vacuum wherever possible, and wear proper respiratory and eye protection — see our Safety Equipment department, and our Pressure Washers & Vacuums category for wet and dry extraction. Always scan for existing cables and pipes before cutting into a wall in an occupied building. Diamond blades are consumables matched to the material. Genuine stock with warranty support.
